Rockwell Hardness Tester

The Rockwell hardness testers manufactured by TX company apply Rockwell hardness testing principle, with initial test force 10kgf, total test force 60kgf, 100kgf and 150kgf, and two common kinds of indenters:

  • 120° diamond cone indenter

  • 1.588mm carbide alloy indenter

The superficial Rockwell hardness tester has different test force of 3kgf initial test force and total force 15kgf, 30kgf, and 45kgf. Users could choose different Rockwell test force and indenter according to different kinds of material, hardness and thickness. The resolution of Rockwell hardness testers can be 0.5 HR, and the resolution of the patent product digital magnetic Rockwell hardness tester can be as precise as 0.1 HR.

As the minimum weight is only 0.8kg, the Rockwell hardness testers are widely used on site to test hardness of huge heat treatment parts, moulds, and serious shapes of specimen, besides, they are also applied to test hardness of thin, small, long and irregular parts, standard parts, hardware, and cutters etc.

The Rockwell hardness testers consist of 14 different models, which can test a variety of metal materials and work pieces with thickness more than 0.1mm and diameter more than 2.5mm. They can test hardness of different kinds of metals from very soft aluminum to very hard steels, carbides etc.

The hardness value can be directly read from the testers after rapid and accurate operations. It can be considered as a non-destructive testing with very small indentations. This kind of hardness testers can be used at the production site to test piece by piece the finished and semi-finished work parts. Rockwell hardness testers are mostly applied in the metal-processing enterprises.

1.Rockwell hardness testers are more simple and efficient on testing speed.

2.The indentation of Rockwell hardness testers is smaller, causing less influence on the surface of the specimen. Therefore, they are often used to test hardness of a large number of machinery, metallurgical, and hot working specimen, such as cutting tools, moulds and tools etc.

1. Fix the specimen with its testing side facing the indenter;

2. Apply initial test force;

3. Adjust the barrel dial to “0”(for the magnetic type Rockwell hardness testers, there is no this process);

4. Load major test force and then unload the major test force;

5. Take the reading.
